The soundtrack for the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me was composed by Angelo Badalamenti and released on August 7, 1992, by Warner Bros. Andy Armer keyboard track 7. Angelo Badalamenti keyboard tracks 1, 2, 3, 6, 10, 11, 12 vocals, piano, synthesizer track 5, 8. Donald Bailey drums track 9. Composer Angelo Badalamenti, who wrote the music for the television series for which this movie served as a prequel, presents another low-key score mixing after-midnight jazz with ambient sounds, never taken at more than a medium tempo. The mood is dark and languid, appropriate to the unusual tone of the TV show and movie. Álbum 1992 12 canciones. The music for Fire Walk with Me, David Lynch's brooding feature film follow-up to the groundbreaking TV series Twin Peaks, again uses the talents of Angelo Badalamenti to create a chilling backdrop to Lynch's dark psychosexual thriller. Film noir is once again the touchstone for this perfectly pitched score, and these 10 tracks stand repeated listening in their own right. As the soundtrack to the 'prequel' movie of the Twin Peaks series, this album captures perfectly the essence of 'Fire Walk With Me'. It is an extremely dark album, for the most part. feel happy to hear this, super terrible. sound is a big differ from original one that I have.

What a pain this release has been!!. Got 3 replacements from amazon, ALL WITH ISSUES. All sets arrived with warped records, two with off-center holes so I kept the "best" out of the lot. After cleaning the records sound good, better than their season 1 release. Can't believe Death Waltz have such good packaging and presentation but their pressings suck. Fans shouldn't pay these high prices for shoddy pressings, they should change pressing plants asap!

anyone ever see a version of this release (src pressing) that has just a blank white disc? everything else is the exact same.

Sounds fantastic, not sure why others are complaining about the release. Either this record is a hit or miss depending on the copy, or the people complaining have poor audio setups. Using a serious HIFI and an extremely efficient pre-amp I hear literally no crackles or pops on my copy.

It's hit or miss, they were pressed at Rainbo and they have shoddy quality control. There are a lot of bum copies. The mastering and music itself is wonderful though.

Similar to the other Twin Peaks release on Death Waltz, mine sounds acceptable, and the packaging and overall presentation of the release is particularly nice. However, the Warner Bros Records reissue sounds superior, though I am glad to have both and will certainly be holding on to this one.

Like the original Twin Peaks TV-series soundtrack LP re-release, this reissue sounds warm without no surface noise. Warner bros/Rhino Records did a great job with these re-releases. Also, I'm loving the original artwork!

That seems like a lot of music (57 minutes) to fit of a single lp...can anyone speak to the dynamics of this pressing? (OTOH, a lot of the tracks are ambient/strings, so maybe it fits well?

i ve got both pressings because the death waltz was first (it is a bad joke to issue a good reprint with the original artwork a couple of month later) and a high end setting and for my ears there are no differences concerning dynamics and mastering etch except the death waltz pressing has lots of side noises which is the problem with so much pressings today. a tip from an boring old fart and graphic designer who buys vinyl since 1979: avoid reprints and always look for original pressings (or reissues from the 80s) to get less surface noises (even if VG+ with surface marks!) and which is also important: get the proper artwork with sharp images and sharp typo which so much reprint releases today lack of with their shitty bootleg feel... and where does that stupid 180 gr dogma came from?!
Samulkis
Samulkis
So true. There's also the "180 gram" sales trick but there are records from the 70's that are almost flexidisc thin that still play a lot better than the reissues of today.

Really impressed with this reissue. I haven't got an original pressing to compare but this has played for me brilliantly without a problem and it sounds lovely and quiet. Glad I waited for this instead of going for the other reissues with the rather ugly artwork.

Same here brother. Original artwork, black vinyl and good sound. No need to make the mess that Deathwaltz did.

Like others have said, this is a lovely pressing. Death Waltz screwed their re-releases with those horrible new cover arts, but here you get the magnificent original artwork. Finally, the sound quality is superb, I have no complaints. This is how all re-releases should be made, no need for unnesseccary 2LP sets with edited or changed cover art. Big thumbs up and 5 stars out of 5 from me!

Last time i've purchased from Death Waltz it was Twin Peaks but the original soundtrack to the TV show. Horrible. I had to replace it and second copy was not "all that". Now Rhino has reissued both soundtracks and they're fantastic (and cheap). Go get them and avoid this one.

The music itself sounds fantastic but as many have mentioned there is an obnoxious amount of surface noise throughout; I'm sure this is largely due to the gimmicky "cherry pie" coloring. It would be great if Death Waltz would put out these releases in standard black vinyl as well, for those of us who care about the music more than fancy packaging.
Jogas

The color has nothing to do with it, it was pressed at Rainbo at they have sloppy quality control. Swathes of their pressings are like this color or not.

A lovely pressing, so much better than that Mondo/Death Waltz travesty. Even has the nice original artwork rather than that crappy black and white sleeve design where they even had one side the wrong way up :D Leave it the professionals in future Mondo!

While side one of my copy is pretty clean most of side two has clicks and pops up the wazoo. This is my second copy too as I had to return the first due to a blotch in the middle of side 2 that made the needle skip! What the hell's up with side two eh?! Anyway, after comparing this edition to the Death Waltz 2LP I'd have to say the latter is MUCH better sounding (better detail, soundstage etc), but this is to be expected when spreading it out over 2LPs. It's just a huge shame that Rainbo screwed up that pressing & it suffers from so much surface noise, not to mention slight warping on some discs as reported by many. Those that think this Rhino pressing is a perfect noise-free affair may be sorely disappointed. The second copy I got has a slight warp too but nothing too bad. I was really hoping this was gonna be the perfect alternative to the DW reissues but two lemons in a row ain't reassuring. Man, buying records these days has turned into a real drag.. quality control just seems to have gone out the window. So, anyone else had issues with clicks and pops on their copy or am I just incredibly unlucky?
Ariurin

You are not wrong: far too often, records made these days sound terrible. I own plenty of records bought used from the 80s that kick ass sound quality wise than most of the shit I buy today. Also: it's a massive myth that 180 g is better. People are so full of shit who believe this.I own a Belly record made in the 1990s. I bought it "used" from an Amazon marketplace seller, but it turned out to be "new" and sealed! It is flimsy as fuck......and sounds fucking fantastic! One of the best sounding records I own.Furthermore: I own way too many 180 gram records that came warped (?????)

First copy I got was terrible: surface of side A had visible (and audible) marks all over it. Took it back to the store and got another copy, with exactly the same issue. Similar problems have been reported extensively with the soundtrack to the series, but I guess I was lucky when I got my copy. Very bad quality control... Shame!

My sounds great too. It was remastered from the original master tapes. From reading the comments here you would expect it to sound awful but it sounds perfect. Maybe people have poor audio set-ups, shitty needles or bad speakers or they got unlucky with the press. Either way there are many factors when it comes to vinyl. The Rhino repress is not sourced from the original tapes so I have my reservations about that. David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti supposedly worked on this remaster so.....

"Maybe people have poor audio set-ups, shitty needles or bad speakers or they got unlucky with the press"....very much the former I reckon !..not denying the bad batch theorem / fact..but I just have a gut feeling by the amount of complaints with new vinyl in general , this must be the case in a lot of respects..

It's gonna be pressed at a better facility but the only thing that gives me pause is it's a one disc pressing like the first from 1992. Not that it can't sound good still, but DW's decision to cut it all across 2 discs was right on the money cuz it sounds fantastic sloppy copies aside.

I'm not buying a copy of this, mainly due to the terrible Twin Peaks release. First copy was warped and unplayable, with the records popping through the inner and outer sleeve. Deathwaltz were great and sent me another copy. However, this also had a slight warp and the sound quality is terrible. I won't be buying anything else from Death Waltz. An overrated and undercaring label.

The sloppiness! "Don't Do Anything (I Woudn't Do)" on both label and back cover, "The Black Dog Run At Night" on the label. How can you pull off such an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime project any fan would kill for to do and then not get an intern to sacrifice 5 minutes of their time to run a spell check? I know it's not the end of the world, but come on.

I'm going to complain yet again about Mondo/Death Waltz, so many clicks and pops on this gimmicky coloured vinyl and one label pressed off centre, some of the tracks sound murky (particularly side C) which suggests mastering wasn't particularly good. The inner cover has been printed upside down too, laughably inept, does no one at Mondo ever bother to check what they are putting out? It took them 5 years to get it out and they fucked up royally once again, I'm still waiting for them to live up to their "fetishist's eye for detail" claim which their press blurb falsely claims (note also the typo on the side C label). Considering the premium price for this (£35+ in the UK, twice what a regular double album sells for) its a particularly poor performance. Come on Spencer, stop courting the press and your adoring phalanx of fanboys all the time ("I got lucky this time with a perfect copy... just pressed a bit off centre", seriously!?) and listen to your customers and the test pressings for once!

Its not Modo/Death waltz to blame for the pressing quality, its Rainbo records - they have a terrible track record with quality control on their pressings.Though Mondo/Death Waltz still choose to use them so yeah, they should get some blame there actually...everything else is kind of strange to have missed (typos, upside down cover etc).

Both of the Twin Peaks Mondo LP'S might as well be pressed on Rice Krispies with all the Damn snap crackle & pops! All these defects go beyond surface noise because their in the same spots every time! Even though the mastering is awesome it's ruined by the bad pressings I own albums from the 70's that sound better! These Twin Peaks albums were my first order from Mondo and they will be my last. NEVER AGAIN MONDO!

So far so good on side A. Very minor noise, if at all. Personally, if I were in charge of the previous pressing, and with all of the problems with that one, I'd be damn sure this one was flawless. Sounds like it isn't for many people. I am curious what people are playing these records with.

I have a Technics 1210 MK2 with Denon DL103r cartridge which I only use for new vinyl, this record deserves to be played on the other Technics which has a Trakmaster II cartridge which I use for all the bashed old Jamaican records I listen to, its in the same ballpark for sound quality!

With a Technics SL-1200 mk5 and Jelco SA750d tonearm. Ortofon mc3 turbo mountrd. I hear too many ticks and pops for a brand new record.

I think they all suffer from the same bad quality pressing. It just depends on how critical the owners are on quality here. Pops and clicks all over, what a shame. I was lookin forward to a great sounding record. Should be no problem for this price. -Edit 11 March: I stand corrected. There Are silent sounding pressings of this release. Just got a new one from Dodax after returning my previous one. Sounds like a dream!!!

There are good ones out there, luckily I got one but Death Waltz & Mondo need to step up their game and stop having "boutique audiophile" releases pressed at fuckin' Rainbo. Enoughhhh

Man, people love to complain about this one. Mine sounds, looks, feels and tastes absolutely fine. I have 2 different turntable set ups and it plays great on both. If I where to say I had a problem (which I don't) it would be that the packaging is larger than my polybags. Director approved.

Did you screenshot the Discogs page man? Lol, and yeah jokes on me...my copies from Mondo always seem to play fine!? P.S. you should try decaf dude.

My copy sounds pristine.... surface noise wise. But the mastering? Would have been flawless, if it weren't for the resonance being heard on the low end throughout the record!! Especially as heard on "The Black Dog Runs At Night". I don't understand how this passed QC, it's an obvious mastering/dithering issue.

Terrible quality pressing, its such a shame as the mastering is excellent. I have had two copy's and sent both back. Lots of surface noise even after a clean on a RCM.

My record arrived a couple days ago, plays beautifully - packaging, pressing, aesthetic, all top quality. Sad to hear about some copies having surface noise but worth the risk imo....

Must be like a lottery. I lucked out again....supurb in every way, crisp, vibrant and warm. NO surface noise....NADA.....the centre labels are a little ho-hum and slap dash...but i can live with that...

I have got this today and the packaging and artwork is absolutely beautiful. However the vinyl has tons of surface noice and pressing flaws (some you can actually see in a strong light and some actually distort the light on the groove). I am sure on a perfect pressing this album sounds incredible (the remaster is stunning) but they need to quality check the vinyl more. For an album that cost me £41.99 in total I expect a lot more care taken to ensure a good quality record. This is one of my favourite albums of all-time and I know every note of it. I hope I get a better copy to replace it. I hope the company addresses these issues as they are clearly happening to a lot of customers.

Anybody have a real indication on why they used a Major Briggs quote from episode 8 in the run-out groove?

Apparently this has a ton of surface noise? Can anyone confirm?

No, I think it's just the uncertain nature of what copy you'll get - some are bad, some are good. Mine seems mostly fine barring Side D which is clicking a constantly.
????????????????????????
????????????????????????
My side A is basically unlistenable with all the pops and clicks. Side B is acceptable, but only by comparison to how horrid side A sounds. Ugh.

Mine has a ton of surface noise. My copy of the Tv series soundtrack is crisp and clear, however.

Yes, my copy of FWWM is riddled with surface noise as soon as the stylus hits the groove. Contacted Mondo. I got lucky with the first Twin Peaks release they did; mine sounds great. Not so lucky this time around.

You obviously have a smooth copy. I certainly know the difference between legit music score orchestration and physical surface noise - my copy has surface noise unfortunately.

Bought my copy today. Haven't listened to it all. I put side 4 on ( had to listen to 'Moving through time'). There's a constant click through 'The Voice of Love' - very disappointing considering I paid £39 and have been waiting 25 years for this. I'll be returning this but it could be the same with a replacement - if these companies want to ask so much money for a product, they HAVE to get it right!!!

It's probably just the sound of the chain on the ride cymbal people are hearing that they are confusing for "surface noise". Sounds sublime to me.

Hey there,as some people already have a copy from a FWWM screening/vinyl release party: Would you please say something about the pressing / sound quality please? Thank you!

Yeah, they did (though it took nearly two weeks). I was also one of the very first to order so I'm not sure why yours wouldn't have shipped yet... Mondo says the time to ship out is typically 3-4 weeks max, so yours should hopefully go out by the 22nd.

Did Mondo send a shipping confirmation by chance? I never got one and I was one of the first to order right when it went up. Still haven't gotten mine in the mail yet.

Not from the screening, my copy arrived the other day from Mondo. It seems to be an excellent pressing, just like the DW series OST, which I also had ordered - neither have any of the warps, noise, or other assorted problems many have reported. And both sound wonderful, especially FWWM (doing a double LP was a great decision). Very clear, crisp, can't imagine it being much better. I know people like to criticize this kind of pricey reissue with non-original cover art, but if it sounds this good I don't see what the problem is.

Good news: Don't waste your money in old and bad quality lp's because we have new reissues right now! https://mondotees.com/blogs/news/twin-peaks-fire-walk-with-me-soundtrack-on-vinylSo this new year comes with an extra xmas gift for Baladamenti's and David Lynch's works lovers.

"old and bad quality lp's" Really? Those old lps usually sound way better than overpriced reissues, with all their fancy vinyl colours, 180g esoterica, bigger than necessary spines, wannabe audiophile digital to analogue remaster crap. I wish another label would have managed the reissue and just release a plain, black vinyl with the old cover instead of this boring artwork. Anyhow, im still glad its available in a proper format again. Ill propably move the dispensable cover to the attic and save some room in my shelf.
