Short intro

Diamonds in the Rough is the second studio album by American country-folk singer-songwriter John Prine, released in 1972. Diamonds in the Rough was recorded at Atlantic Recording Studios in New York City. The album's sound homed in on the Appalachian high lonesome influences evident on Prine's eponymous debut LP and its bluegrass instrumentation reflects Prine's fascination with early American folk and country music. The album was produced by Arif Mardin and features Prine's brother Dave on dobro. Songs in album John Prine - Diamonds In The Rough 1972. John Prine - Everybody. John Prine - The Torch Singer. Jan 01 1972. of me, I could not see But I heard a brand new joke Two men were standing upon a bridge One jumped and screamed you lose And just left the odd man holding Those late John Garfield blues An old man sleeps with his conscience at night Young kids sleep with their dreams While the mentally ill sit perfectly still And live through. John Prine's second album was a cut below his first, only because the debut was a classic and the followup was merely terrific. Sour Grapes showed Prine's cracked sense of humor and Souvenirs his sentiment. Even if it was the second rank of his writing, Diamonds in the Rough demonstrated that Prine had an enduring talent that wasn't exhausted by one great album. John Prine. Released 1972. If you dig John Prine just go ahead and admit that you like country music. There’s no shame in that. Prine and Townes and the other outlaw country guys are County not Folk.

Quiet pressing, which is why I bought this reissue, got tired of the surface noise on my 2 original pressings. Satisfied. Not amazing pressing, as I'm hearing some very occasional noise in places on some sounds (hard to describe). But again, it's quiet, which was my goal.
