The Metro Area sound embodies the current climate of cool that the electro-clash scene has managed to generate around itself without the makeup and very obvious electronic motifs of the eighties. This is house music at its most experimental the sound of Philadelphia, disco, R&B and electronica that's been rolled, licked and lit with precision. Although minimal this record is deceptively detailed with nuances in the production that induce repeated listens. Like peanuts after a couple of pints Metro Area is salty, crunchy and very moorish. One word: MiuraAmazing classic deep house vibe - do not sleep on this. Whatever that sample is, it hits the sweet spot every time. Still getting mentions 18 years after release - a classic track.

One of the best Deep-House Tunes ever. Miura still kills it everywhere. Absolutly Funky with this little disco touch. Who dont dance when this rotates must be dead!

Has something that drives it more than other metro Area 12's, More mix and dance floor friendly. Not necessarily more melodic or 'hooky than other 12's in series but a classic all the same. Was definitely worth buying at the time as the 2x12 l.p. didn't have the press quality to DJ out

Can anybody tell me if there will also be separate reissues/represses of these 12"s?

The Metro Records were about 16 years ahead of their time. The curse of being innovative. These are indeed classics

So very true. Just listening to this again after about 15 years and still sounds so fresh. Such a classic

Absolutely, it was an instant classic and Metro Area were already well known and regard. The only curse I could aknowledge is that in the early 00's House music wasn't as popular as it is now or in the mid 90's.

How was this ahead of it’s time? These records were well received at the time, no?

Yes, i'd agree. I remember them saying that the black and white artwork was a 9/11 tribute.

I'd say autumn. I think I remember a world email campaign from Robert Johnson just because the record was being world-premiered at the decks of the club (it was that awaited).

Miura gets all the shine here...but I'd have to agree with phazor, I actually enjoy the other tracks on here more so than the stand out cut.

Okay...soapbox moment...I think Resident Advisor just rated "Miura" as the #1 track of the '00s. I have to disagree...this has always been one of my LEAST favorite Metro Area tracks. Whatev!

I don't disagree at all, that you're very happy, in presenting an opinion, that it's a relatively poor piece of work. Appearing to be open to alternative points of view is something I try and convince myself of all the time. "Grandstanding", (as you virtually admit to) without any desire to present some form of context, balance… or points of reference ..whatsoever, is just a fundamental lack of respect. When that is expressed on a specialized forum culminating with the term “ Whatev!” …Then …really NOBODY should care what your opinion is….

Can't believe this record has no reviews! I will take on the difficult task of going first. This EP still stands up as the best Metro Area release on Environ, against some pretty stiff competition. And although the two tracks on the flip are classic boogie/Italo influenced work-outs, its all about 'Miura'. Sleazy, sexy robodisco with that heartbeat bassline and distinctive vocal, this slayed everybody when it came out - and still does nearly a decade later. A totally unique masterpiece and it has still never been bettered by the MA boys. Steer well clear of the 2007 re-edit (that Morgan and Darshan weren't too fond of either) at all costs, this is one track that doesn't need one.
