And yet, Nirvanas 1991 single didnt just mark an unlikely breakthrough for the Seattle trio, it upended popular culture in ways weve havent seen since. Punk became pop, grunge became global vernacular, industry walls became rubble, and frontman Kurt Cobain became the reluctant voice of a generation in need of catharsis, all seemingly overnight. Though his 1994 suicide would see the band dissolve just as abruptly as theyd arrived, their story is now rocknroll parable and their influence still felt-as punks, icons, Hall of Famers, purveyors of haunting melody and often terrifying noise. This disc is a clone of "Kurko" and "Bang Tango" with some in between editing and in lower quality. Its still a good show and sounds great but get "Kurko" or "Bang Tango" if you want the complete source and better quality.

Overall nice packaging. Odd setlist because of the circumstances. Sound quality is decent overall, but quiet.

The source of this is an incomplete PRO shot video with soundboard audio that surfaced in 2002. The four final songs after On A Plain are missing. However, unlike all bootleg CDs of this show (Bang Tango, Kurko, Out Of Bloom, Higher State Of Mind) it contains everything before Breed. Just like other pressings by Parachute (such as Love Us Loudly) the runout area on these LPs is huge! I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't take advantage of this and choose to complete the show by using a different source.

Pretty much a direct carbon copy of this record: https://www.discogs.com/Nirvana-Live-In-Buenos-Aires-1992/release/6128677 The Buenos Aires show is fantastic and an essential for Nirvana fans, but the biggest sin for both of these releases is that they don't include the end of the show (which includes explosive versions of "Negative Creep", "Blew" and "Endless Nameless" and an early version of "All Apologies"), which would still easily fit onto two LPs. If you're gonna bootleg another bootleg, at least improve on what the previous bootleg offered.

La qualité audio du live n'est pas top (larsens, saturations...). C'est dommage.

Bulk banter. Pretty good recording, different to any other live Nirvana albums you will have. Worth getting a copy.

One Hell Of A Great Show! Superb gig including the only performance ever of the Jam "Nobody Knows I'm New Wave" and an unbelievably rare performance of "Beeswax" (the first live recording of this song to pop up since 1988) and lots of funny moments from the band, including them trolling the audience twice by playing the just the intro to "teen spirit" then segueing into something completely different (they never performed the full teen spirit at this show) and a good jam between Krist and Dave on the track "Intermezzo" with dave playing a toy drum set. The overall package is great too, nice heavy good-quality vinyl and a deluxe gatefold cover with a write-up on the concert inside. My one complaint about this release is that it doesn't contain the whole concert, which could have easily fit onto two LPs. The whole existing recording of this concert (or at least a compilation of various recordings) is 84 minutes long, and that could fit on two LPs with an average time of 21 minutes per side, but instead they just used 61 minutes of the concert, which results in an average time of only 15 minutes per side, which some people may find disappointing. Its a shame that the last quarter of the concert wasn't included, it's got some explosive versions of "Negative creep" (though it cuts in), "Blew", "Endless nameless" and even an early performance of "All Apologies". Despite that, its still a great release! Very great quality and a good value for money, it would be difficult tell at first glance that this was a bootleg at all.

As the profile of Immortal notes "This label specializes in releasing unreleased (mainly live) recordings from well known artists. These releases are not official issues, but the label seems to be able to work in a semi-official capacity."And because of that we also have the "Partially Unofficial" tag to add here, and I think that's a good one for these releases. As for the Peel Sessions, issued by Strange Fruit that have been mentioned, the difference is that those were also sanctioned by the artists theirselves, while most, if not all of the stuff on Immortal may be cleared if it comes to copyright issues, but they are not authorized by the involved artists, their record companies or management. As S-O-S-MUSIC notes, a grey area.

It's a bootleg. Or did anyone read from Geffen (Facebook, Homepage etc) that this was released by them this october?

This shouldn't be classified as an official release. It's obviously a bootleg.

I have thought about this and it is not for me to say as to whether it is official or not.I am not a copyright lawyer but I do know that in many instances copyright of an individual performance is given to a broadcaster. Of course I am not privy to contracts however I would assume the broadcaster or whoever owns the performance rights now has licensed this release (and similar) to Immortal. As far as I am aware for this and similar labels publishing royalties are paid, usually via the MCPS whose name and logo are often seen on these kind of releases.I have looked up on Discogs product on Strange Fruit, another that specialises in releasing broadcast performance material. The first 5 acts I look up - New Order, The Smiths, The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees and Madness have no 'unofficial' status despite being clearly radio broadcast material. Windsong International and Eagle Vision, amongst others, are labels that issue similar product but again on checking the first few there is no 'unofficial' status. What makes these different? So had this release been on any of these labels would they remain 'official'? Same if it had been Nirvana Live At The BBC issued by Immortal?Immortal themselves do not appear to be some shady backstreet operation and their catalogue, including company information, address and telephone number is available by doing a quick internet search. The product comes from the arguably the largest record distributor in Europe if not the world who source products from most labels worldwide and handle distribution for the major labels - exclusively for some in certain parts of Europe. They inform me they go to great lengths to check product for legitimacy. The product is quite clearly listed on their invoices alongside that of other product I have for sale via Discogs. So to sum up, the product may not be authorised by a band, management or record company but does not mean it is an unofficial release. For me a grey area.

A product not authorized by the band, label or management is the definition of an unofficial release. This is a bootleg. It's a really good quality bootleg, but there's no grey area. If it's not authorized by anyone who has the authority to authorize it, it unauthorized. The broadcaster is given broadcast rights. It would be unheard of for a broadcaster to also be granted the right to release the recording of the broadcast. (Even MTV Unplugged performances are released through each artist's existing label.)

Nab it off the internet and release a bootleg dvd. Pathetic.
